With the travesty of the proposed Oakland A’s ballpark and development behind us, the Port of Oakland is focusing on and promoting freight.
The port recently had a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their Freight Intelligent Transportation Systems (FITS) project. FITS will “improve the efficiency, safety operations, circulation and reliability of truck and rail access throughout the Port of Oakland.”
The port also broke ground on the 7th Street Grade Separate East, which will reconstruct a 90 year old railroad underpass. The improvements will relieve congestion and improve safety.
